Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release (MFR) is an advanced form of massage therapy that can be used to treat a wide range of problems. Many people who come in for Myofascial Release treatment come with chronic aches and pains and find that the results of Myofascial Release are often faster and last longer than with any other type of massage they have tried before.

What is Myofascia?

Myofascia is a continuous web like construction that binds our bodily structure from head to toe. The Myofascia is made up of mainly collagen and elastin fibres which allow it to be strong but flexible.

When someone experiences physical and emotional trauma or has poor posture the fascia becomes scarred and hardens, causing the fascia to lose its normal properties pulling internal structures off alignment. This can create a great amount of pressure on the surrounding tissues which causes pain to radiate into other areas of the body.

Myofascial Release is a combination of gentle static pressure and stretching. No oil is applied to the skin and I work in combination with my client’s feedback and with what I can feel.  In a Myofascial Release session, the body is treated as a whole as pain could be coming from an area where the client isn’t knowingly experiencing any problems.
